FDM CALCULATOR

Estimate printing cost

Calculate filament and electricity costs from your assumptions in the displayed currency. This is not a complete manufacturing cost.

Prices use the displayed currency. Changing currency converts valid prices from their reference values, without cumulative rounding.

Indicative conversions, not bank transaction rates.

Change the inputs, then choose Calculate. Changing an input hides the previous result.

Your inputs

Editable example values · no measurements made by this site.

Filament
g
Net mass; include supports, purge and waste if you want to count them.
EUR/kg
Price per kilogram in the displayed currency; zero excludes this item.
Time and energy
h
Whole hours, including zero.
min
Whole number from 0 to 59.
W
Your average estimate, not the power supply rating.
EUR/kWh
Tariff in the displayed currency; zero excludes this item.

Use a decimal point or comma. No thousands separators, exponents or units in fields. Example: 1000.5, not 1,000.5.

Formulas and assumptions

Formulas and assumptions

  • Duration = hours + minutes / 60
  • Filament = mass (g) / 1000 × price (EUR/kg)
  • Energy (kWh) = average power (W) / 1000 × duration (h)
  • Electricity = energy (kWh) × tariff (EUR/kWh)
  • Total = filament + electricity

No intermediate rounding. Quantities use up to two decimal places, energy three; very small values use scientific notation. Amounts follow the displayed currency (no decimals for JPY, two for the others), with half amounts rounded up.

Inputs: zero where allowed, otherwise 0.000001 to 1,000,000,000. Absolute results are limited to 1,000,000,000,000. These technical limits do not describe printer capabilities.

Limitations to consider

  • Zero excludes the corresponding item; it is not a measured price, power use or duration.
  • Only the two entered cost items are included. Depreciation, maintenance, wear parts, labour, failed prints and overheads are excluded.
  • Supports, purge and other waste are excluded unless included in the entered mass.
  • Average power and electricity tariff are your assumptions. No physical measurement is performed; currency conversions are indicative.
